PEACHTREE CITY, USA – Aventure Aviation is holding a 2022 World Cup contest where participants can guess the winning teams of the quarter-finals, semi-finals, and finals. Prizes include an iPhone 14, Apple Watch, and AirPods. This is Aventure’s fifth such contest since 2006.
Arguably the biggest sporting event in the world, The World Cup is an international football competition of the sport’s global governing body, Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA). It takes place in a different country every four years.
Hosted in Qatar, the event started November 20 and will end December 18. There are 32 teams competing.
“I saw my first World Cup in 1990, and there’s no global sporting event like it,” said Hamzah Faruqi, Aventure’s Director of Sales. “Our grand prize is an iPhone 14. Back in 2006 it was a portable DVD player…very high tech at the time!”
This year is the first time the tournament has been hosted in a Middle Eastern country. Due to high temperatures, it will also be the first time the event is held in winter instead of summer.
The first World Cup took place in 1930, with 13 nations participating. It would quickly become the world’s most anticipated sporting event, with hundreds of millions watching.
Brazil has won the most World Cup titles with a total of five, followed by Germany and Italy with four. Brazil is currently the country with the highest odds of winning this year.
Participants must enter by 14:00 GMT on Thursday, December 9 for a chance to guess the semi-finalists and win an Apple Watch. To guess the finalist and runner up, participants must enter by December 13, 18:00 GMT for chance to win an iPhone 14.
