Student Robotics Team Sponsored by Aventure Advances to World Championship

MARIETTA, GEORGIA, USA – The SASH Monkey Wrench Robotics team, a participant in the FIRST Robotics Competition, has advanced to the 2020 FIRST Championship. The four-day annual event involves the winners of regional competitions, where teams of middle and high school-aged students design, build, and program a robot to play a floor game against other team’s robots.

Last year’s competition involved 3,790 teams, 94,750 youths, and 28,350 adult supporters in 33 countries. The SASH team, sponsored by Aventure Aviation, consists of students based in Peachtree City, Georgia, home to Aventure’s Atlanta headquarters.

SASH earned the right to advance after their performance at the regional FIRST Tech Challenge Georgia State Championships, held February 22, at the Cobb County Civic Center in Marietta, Georgia. They won third place in their division and were named “Captain of the Winning Alliance.”

The global competition is organized by FIRST Robotics, a nonprofit that aims to combine the excitement of sports with the rigors of science and technology. Guided by adult coaches and mentors, students develop valuable science, technology, engineering, and math skills—while realizing the value of hard work, innovation, and sharing ideas.
