PEACHTREE CITY, USA – This Month Captain Chesley Burnett “Sully” Sullenberger will receive one of aviation’s highest honors when he is enshrined in the National Aviation Hall of Fame as a member of the Class of 2026.
The 62nd Annual Enshrinement Ceremony will take place September 24 at The Anthem in Washington, D.C.
Best known for his heroic landing of US Airways Flight 1549 on New York’s Hudson River in 2009—saving the lives of all 155 people on board—Sullenberger has become a global symbol of professionalism, leadership, and aviation safety. His induction recognizes not only that extraordinary moment, but also his lifelong commitment to advancing pilot training, aviation safety, and public service.
With this honor, Captain Sully will forever stand alongside the greatest pioneers in aviation history, including Orville and Wilbur Wright, Amelia Earhart, Charles Lindbergh, and Neil Armstrong.
The US Airways Airbus A320 is on display at the Sullenberger Aviation Museum in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The National Aviation Hall of Fame was founded in 1962 in Dayton, Ohio, the “Birthplace of Aviation,” and granted a national charter by the U.S. Congress.
“It’s a fitting tribute to a pilot who has inspired aviators around the world,” said Aventure brand marketing manager Hala Faruqi.
