ATLANTA, USA – Aventure joined thousands of participants at Atlanta’s annual Mayor’s 5K on the 5th Runway, held September 20 at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
This year marks the 11th anniversary of this iconic race, which welcomed 2,000 participants of all abilities, ages ten and older.
This unique 5K allows participants to compete for charity on a single runway that sees 100,000 landings and takeoffs annually at the busiest airport in the world.
Hosted by Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens, over $200,000 was raised for the Mayor’s Youth Scholarship Program and the United Way of Greater Atlanta.
The length of a 5K race is 5 kilometers (3.1 miles), a distance favored among new and experienced runners alike. It strikes a balance between accessibility for beginners while providing a fast and competitive challenge for seasoned athletes.
“How many can say they’ve run on an active runway?,” said Hamzah Faruqi, Aventure’s director of sales and 5K participant. “It’s for a great cause, and there’s nothing like running at dawn alongside thousands at the world’s busiest airport.”
