April 14–16, 2015 | Miami Beach, USA
Aventure Aviation sponsored the Aerospace Maintenance Competition’s (AMC) safety wiring event at Aviation Week’s MRO Americas 2015. The conference was held April 14–16 at the Miami Beach convention center in Miami Beach, Florida, and is a leading event for the international aviation MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul) industry.
Safety wiring prevents fasteners from loosening or falling out due to vibration. A wire is threaded through a hole in a fastener and twisted and then typically anchored to another fastener. The event tested each participant’s skill and speed while accomplishing a series of safety wire patterns.
Participants include students enrolled in aviation technical schools, certified Aircraft Maintenance Technicians and Engineers, and technicians from the Armed Forces of several countries, as well as uncertified Aircraft Technicians and Aircraft Engineers employed with a Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) or Original Equipment Manufacturing (OEM) company.
“As an aircraft parts supplier to the aviation industry, Aventure Aviation recognizes the importance of the aviation technicians who install these parts,” said Melissa Coleman-Grina, Senior Director of Business Development.
“Even under adverse weather conditions, aviation technicians tirelessly demonstrate their responsibility for the safety of the traveling passengers in the air. Their dedication guarantees that passengers and freight arrive safely on time. Aventure Aviation is proud to support AMC's efforts in bringing attention to this noble profession,” she added.
AMC had 39 teams compete in 9 separate categories. Located across from the competition, Aventure’s exhibition booth gave visitors the opportunity to try safety wiring for themselves. Several visitors took home a Leatherman Wingman Multi-Tool for their participation, including James Steward, a student with the Aviation Institute of Maintenance (Houston, Texas campus), and Michael Diamond of Boeing.
